Cut out two bodice pieces and two sleeve pieces.
Put a pin in one bodice piece and call it the back. Pin 3 seams and stitch them. Press them all one way along the neck edge.
Press over a scant 1/4” then press over a good 1/2”. Pin it down.
Open out the casing at the 4th seam. Pin and stitch the seam.
You now have a tube. Mark where you will leave a gap in the back and stitch the casing down very close to the open edge. Stitch around the top edge about 1/8” from the fold. Make sure you leave 3/8” width of casing as you cross over the armholes seams. It’s a bit harder to keep the casing even at the seams.
Stitch the casing along the sleeve hem edges too.
Thread your elastic in the same direction as the armhole seams are pressed. Somehow I managed to press my seams the wrong way. I should have pressed them from right to left with the wrong side facing me. I also managed to get the pins the wrong way round when I pinned the neck casing and I had to turn them all around. I have no idea how I manage to end up with such great designs when I struggle so much with the 3D orientation of everything!
Cheers,
Val
