1 way to add style to your doll's Everyday Shirt

1837 is the Everyday Shirt.

One of the top 10 most popular patterns in my shop

Today this shirt is my favourite design.

I have loved it since it first popped into my head back in 2016.

I was so excited about the idea because it was a perfect pattern for my brand.

The Boyfriend Shirt (archived now) had lots of cool details but it was just too fiddly to make. The Everyday shirt is a perfect compromise.

It was so great to see that the all in one collar and stand looked just as good as the two piece collar and stand.

This is what I am about. Getting a fabulous authentic garment look without making it too hard to sew.

Classic design

I get such a buzz when something comes together and it gave me a lot of pleasure to style the doll with the new shirt. It looks so mini human!

It is not so easy to circle back to a previous design. I have so many new ideas swirling around in my head. It is a bit like spinning a roulette wheel. Where it stops, nobody knows but when it stops everything feels right and I just go for it.

This shirt was the perfect choice pattern to showcase the bold Fall colour palette that I bought a while back.

Choosing fall colours was just a theme to help me narrow down a palette. Fall colours are perfect for my Lea doll.

By using the colourful solid colour for the cuffs and the collar as well as the buttons my latest project turned out really pretty. Lea loves it because I love it.

Minor updates to the pattern file

As usual I have a bit of trouble controlling the perfectionist in me so I had to make some adjustments to the instructions and the pattern pieces for this design. I changed some of the construction details mainly because I am just more experienced now.

Making the changes and sewing up the new garments is great fun and uses up my energy really quick.

If you don’t have this pattern you will find the updated version in Etsy. If you already have it you will have to request the update for now. Just find your receipt and message me through that in Etsy. After I have recharged I will start sending out the updated version to all the people who have already bought it on Etsy.

I have some videos for parts of the instructions that will be on YouTube before too long.

Be inspired to sew

You can’t go wrong by adding this cute and classy shirt pattern to your collection. If you are looking for something stylish to make for your doll, or someone else’s doll, this shirt is not too difficult. It does have quite a few steps so it is easyish but not quick.

If you have a blonde doll then a pretty light pink or blue to provide a low contrast with white will look beautiful. The brunettes or darker skinned dolls will look great with a safe choice of dark pink or deep blue to go with white main pieces.

I am excited to share my ideas for this shirt with you. I hope you are inspired to jump up and get sewing. Have a look at some of your doll’s skirts and trousers and dig out some pretty fabric to go with them.

If you love crazy patterns or pretty florals you could try using white cuffs and collar and buttons with soft coloured patterns, and darker solids with the more bold patterns. Soft patterns are for the blondes and the bold ones are for the brunettes. Of course the old favourite is a cute check.

This pink dot pattern shirt was more of a test run so I didn't do the white cuffs and collar.

There's no excuse to let this pattern sit on your shelf.

You can buy it now

Happy Doll Dressmaking,

Val
