How to make this pleated dress. |
I love pleats!
With my graph paper method you do the pleats in sections and it becomes quite easy.
- Pin
- Crease
- Pleat
- Baste
Completing 4 or 5 pleats at a time makes it easy to manage.
To make this dress I have used pattern piece 2 from 1805 and extended the bottom edge by 1 1/2".
I have allowed a 1/2" seam for the drop waist because pleats can get a bit bulky and you don't want the seam to fray after doing all the pleating
I have also stitched the lining over the waist seam to give it a nice neat look inside.
Making the dress with the vest pattern means that it can be used as a jumper dress with a blouse underneath but it still looks good with no blouse.
Instructions with lots of steps to explain how to pin and press the pleats.
